Malawi: Launch of national health research agenda

This will guide Malawi’s research activities, policymaking and health service delivery over the next five years. It will move research away from being externally driven to focus on locally relevant priorities.

“Research priorities identified in the agenda include: communicable diseases, HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, pneumonia, diarrhoeal diseases and neglected tropical diseases including schistosomiasis, onchocerciasis, lyphatic filariasis, trachoma and soil-transmitted heminth infections.”

I work with Partnerships in Health Information which promotes the exchange of experience between libraries in the UK and Africa. I used to be the Clinical Sciences Librarian at the University of Leicester and since taking up my work with PHI have visited Kenya, Mali, Uganda and Zambia, but the best part has been meeting colleagues involved with all aspects of health information in Africa as a whole.
